Quality

NuaLight is committed to delivering quality products and services to all our customers. This commitment is reflected in the processes and documentation that form our Quality Management System.

NuaLight are working towards certification to the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Standard.  We expect to achieve our certification during 2007. Meanwhile we design, manufacture and distribute our products in a quality controlled environment, and to the highest standards.

NuaLight takes its dedication to quality assurance seriously across the entire organisation.  This ensures the continual improvement of the service we give to our customers.

If you would like further information about our Quality Management System, please contact our Management Representative via quality@nualight.com

CE SymbolNuaLight products are submitted for approval to the highest international safety standards. All products are tested by independent laboratories to ensure conformance to CE and are also submitted to Underwriter Laboratories for approval.

NuaLight Products are tested to the following European EMC standards:

EN 55015

Limits and methods of measurement of radio disturbance characteristics of electrical lighting and similar equipment

EN 55015 applies to the emission (radiated and conducted) of radiofrequency disturbances from all lighting equipment with a primary function of generating and/or distributing light intended for illumination purposes, and intended for connection to the low voltage electricity supply or battery operation

EN 55022

Information technology equipment, radio disturbance characteristics.  Limits and methods of measurement

EN 55022 applies to information technology equipment (ITE). It is for use in compliance with the EU EMC Directive.

Protection of the radio spectrum from spurious interference is of vital importance to the maintenance of successful radio communications. BS EN 55022 specifies radio disturbance limits for potentially interfering spurious emissions generated by information technology equipment (ITE**) products.

Note: EN55015 is the standard for lighting products. This standard demands for Emissions testing up to 30Mhz. However to ensure the luminaire can be installed into other pieces of equipment (i.e. Freezers) without effecting their conformity to the EMC directive. The luminaires have been tested to and passed EN55022 which tests for emissions up to 1GHz.

EN 61000-3-2

Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Limits for harmonic current emissions (equipment input current < 16 A per phase)

EN 61000-3-2 deals with the limits of harmonic currents injected into the public supply system. It specifies limits of harmonic components of the input current which may be produced by equipment tested under specified conditions.

EN 61000-3-3 Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Limits, limitation of voltage changes, voltage fluctuations and flicker in public low-voltage supply systems, for equipment with rated current <16 A per phase and not subject to conditional connection

Electromagnetic compatibility; electromagnetic radiation; electromagnetic fields; electric power system disturbances; household equipment; electrically-operated devices; electronically-operated devices; voltage fluctuations and voltage measurement.

EN 61547

Specification for equipment for general lighting purposes. EMC immunity requirements.

Lighting equipment, Lighting systems, Electrical equipment, Interference suppression, Performance, Grades (quality), Electrostatics, Electrical testing, Testing conditions, Electric current, Surges (electrical), Conformity, Electromagnetic radiation.

NuaLight products are UL Approved for the USA and Canada:

UL Listed - USA

[Luminaires and Fittings] (Special Purpose Luminaires) Low-voltage Lighting Systems, Power Units, Luminaires and Fittings

UL SymbolThis UL category covers low-voltage luminaires, low-voltage lighting power units, and low-voltage luminaire systems. This category also covers luminaire fittings that are parts and/or subassemblies intended for final assembly into low-voltage luminaires in the field.

These luminaires and fittings are rated 30V (42.4V peak) or less, for connection to an isolating type power unit covered under this category. Sets of low-voltage luminaires may include the power unit and interconnecting cabling to make up a low-voltage luminaire system.

This category also covers low-voltage lighting systems incorporating luminaires which may be repositionable along the bare supply conductors that also support the luminaire. The power unit for these systems is provided with integral protection that de-energizes the output upon overloading or inadvertent shorting of exposed un-insulated live parts of the system.

CSA – CANADA

[Luminaires and Fittings Certified for Canada] (Special Purpose Luminaires Certified for Canada) Low-voltage Lighting Systems, Power Units, Luminaires and Fittings Certified for Canada

c UL us SymbolThis category covers extra- low-voltage luminaires, extra-low-voltage lighting power units, and extra- low-voltage luminaire systems. This category also covers luminaire fittings that are parts and/or subassemblies intended for final assembly into extra-low-voltage luminaires in the field.

These luminaires and fittings are rated 30 V (42.4 V peak) or less, for connection to an isolating type power unit rated 30 V (42.4 V peak) or less and 1000 VA maximum, limited and protected in accordance with Section 16 of CAN/CSA-C22.1, "Canadian Electrical Code, Part I" (CEC),. Sets of extra-low-voltage luminaires may include the power supply and interconnecting cabling, to make up an extra- low-voltage luminaire system.

Cable Lighting Systems

This category also covers cable lighting systems, defined in the CEC as complete, extra-low-voltage lighting systems that comprise an isolating type transformer with bare secondary conductors for connection to one or more luminaire heads. The luminaires may be repositionable along the bare secondary conductors that also support the luminaire. The power unit for these systems is provided with integral protection that de-energizes the output upon overloading or inadvertent shorting of exposed un-insulated live parts of the system.

NuaLight products are compliant with the following recognised standards:

IEC 60598-1

Endurance and Thermal Testing  - sections 12.4.1 & 12.5.1 Normal and Abnormal Operating Conditions

F SymbolThe abnormal operating conditions include creating a short circuit across a LED device and ensuring the remainder of the circuit continues to operate both electrically and thermally. Compliance to this standard ensures that the surface temperatures, of the luminaires, are safe to touch and do not create a flammability hazard to adjacent surfaces. This standard allows the F-Mark symbol to be applied.

IEC 68-2-14

Environmental Test Procedure – Change of Temperature

This standard requires the product to be cycled from -25ºC to +60ºC, transition time 60 mins, dwell time 60 minutes. Number of cycles 100. The product is verified both electrically and mechanically to its operational specification.
